Lorenzo Sanz, former president of Real Madrid, has acknowledged that he concealed six million euros from Treasury an amount he obtained, together with his wife, in 2008 and 2009 and that did not declare in the IRPF to obtain an illicit tax benefit, which meant in total that the treasury stopped entering 1.244.823 euros.
As informed to EFE legal sources, ] Sanz has acknowledged the facts in the trial, held behind closed doors in the Hearing of Madrid, in which the prosecutor accuses him of two tax crimes, for which he asks for five years and six months of imprisonment and payment of a fine of 3.5 million euros and compensation to the Treasury of 1,224,823 euros for civil liability.
In his indictment, the Prosecutor's Office points out that it has not been proven that Sanz's wife had decision-making capacity in the of the income tax returns, but “he did benefit from the concealment of income on the part of her husband with whom she was married in a scheme of acquisitions”, and therefore asks him to compensate the Treasury jointly with him with half of the defrauded 622,411 euros.
The hearing, according to the sources consulted by EFE has been postponed to June 27, since the accused, after admitting the accusation, has offered the court new documentary evidence.
According to sources, that day the trial will be resumed with the practice of new expert evidence and the presentation of new indictments adapted to the recognition of the facts by Lorenzo Sanz.
