Sergio Ramos, captain of Real Madrid, he became the most cautioned player in the history of the Champions League with a total of 37 cards, after seeing the yellow card in the match against AS Roma, on the first day of the 2018-19 edition.
An error in the pass by Toni Kroos caused the lack of Ramos in the 23 minutes that the Dutch referee Bjorn Kuipers punished with a yellow card. It surpassed in this way the 36 with which the midfielder Paul Scholes retired, who played his entire career at Manchester United.
Since the end of 2017 Ramos is also the most cautioned player in the history of the Spanish League, where he has received a total of 165 cards.
