Carlo Ancelotti, current coach of Everton, assured that his passage through the Real Madrid Between 2013 and 2015 it was an “unforgettable” experience and when the Champions League arrived it was like “an obsession” for the white club.
“I think that as a coach you have to manage Real Madrid once in your life. I spent two years there and it was an unforgettable experience because I think Madrid is the best club in the world because of the image they have abroad,” Ancelotti explained to Sky Sports.
“Every place you go, every country, there are people who want to see you, who want to support the team. It has a top organization, a fantastic training ground and an incredible team when I arrived,” he said.
Among the titles that Ancelotti won with Real Madrid stands out the tenth European Cup conquered in Lisbon before him Atlético de Madrid.
“When I arrived the team had some problems. The fact that they had not won the Champions League in twelve years was like an obsession for them because Real Madrid was used to winning a lot of them. I was lucky the first year to do it” .
On the players he has managed in his career, he highlighted Zinedine Zidane and how it influenced his way of training.
“Zidane changed my idea about football. I was very focused before coming to Juventus at 4-4-2 and then, with Zidane, I changed. I wanted to put him in the best position for him and make him comfortable on the field,” Ancelotti said.
In addition, the Italian spoke of training players of the quality of Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos.
“You don’t have to give a lot of defensive information to players like Cristiano Ronaldo, who are capable of putting in every game. Sergio Ramos also has a fantastic quality. I think his best quality is not tactically or technically, but his character and his personality and the ability to motivate the people around him. Ramos during that stage was very important because of this, he was always at the highest level when the game was important. “
