The 2019/2020 season has ended for the Real Madrid and the players of the merengue team are beginning to take stock and share it with their followers on social networks. One of them has been Marco Asensio, who has had the most difficult season of his career.
“This season 2019/2020 ends. Different and strange for everyone, but with the achievement of the Spanish Super Cup and a different League, which we will never forget. Personally, it has been a season full of obstacles and very hard, but with a very nice reward for work. Now it’s time to rest and come back even stronger for next season. Thanks for your support, “said the Spaniard.
A difficult, hard and atypical year for everyone. But if the world was surprised and punished by the appearance of the coronavirus, the footballer’s ordeal began much earlier. Asensio decided not to go to European u21, who would end up winning Spain with Ceballos and Fabian Ruiz as his references, to focus on Real Madrid after things did not go too well for him during 2018/2019.
He arrived ready to begin preseason work and when the team was in North America to play the matches corresponding to the International Champions Cup, the critical moment arrived. The Spanish international was injured during the confrontation against Arsenal and shortly after the worst omens were confirmed: he would miss practically the entire 2019/2020 season and had to undergo surgery.
Thus began a new script for the course. After the operation, the images worried the white fans and the soccer player. He could barely articulate his knee. Little by little he saw the steps forward he was taking in the rehabilitation process.
He made his fans participate in all this. Social networks have helped Marco Asensio get closer to his followers at this difficult time. Little could he think then that the stoppage forced by Covid-19 would give him an opportunity to play more minutes than expected in the season.
Return from hell
After returning to training, a documentary was released in which Asensio spoke of his experience: “This process has helped me a lot for what is to come in the future. I have found myself again, it has helped me to know where I am, where I want to go. When I focus on something, I get it. I know that this challenge is very big, very important for me, but I know that as I have worked so far I will be able to overcome it “.
330 days after his injury, the player dressed again in shorts and within seconds of entering the field he scored his first goal of the season: “I thought I would be more nervous. I found myself very comfortable, as if time had not passed. I would love to break the shirt into many pieces and distribute it to all the people who have helped me throughout this process. The celebration has been a super emotional moment, I don’t know how I have held back the tears. “
